Dominican player Albert Pujols said Friday that he is ready to play for Leones del Escogido when the team has him.
“Physically I feel I can play today, but it does not depend on me, but on what the rules of the list allow”, Pujols said when answering questions from free magazine During the press conference held in the seventh sky at Qiskia Stadium.
Pujols came to the Lions in a change from Gigantes del Cibao and confirmed that he would play in the country regardless of the team.
I did not ask for a change. I wanted to play in the country so my people would see me and make everyone who wanted to see me play happy. Since I was a kid I dreamed of playing in the country, I was selling sandwiches with my family when I was a kid in Kiskia and that’s something I wanted to do”added.
He said he doesn’t have a specific debut date or the number of games he’s playing.
“It has nothing to do with whether or not I will stay in the major leagues. That will not decide whether I will continue or not, but when I understand I can no longer.” “My time to retire has not come.”
The hitter was emphatic in indicating that he understands he still has a lot of baseball and doesn’t want to limit what he can do on the field.
Pujols played for the Angels and Dodgers in 2021 and has 679 home careers.
He recently ended his $240 million 10-year contract, and at the age of 41, it’s not clear if he’ll stand a chance of making a comeback by 2022.
He emphasized that once his career as a player is over, he can start again as a coach, whether as a coach or as a manager.
“I think I have a lot to offer to players who are late, so I wouldn’t rule it out,” he said.
