The publisher announced in a statement Monday that Superman will be bisexual in the new installment of the DC Comics that will be published on November 9.
John Kent, son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, is the character behind this new Superman identity.
DC Comics described in detail that Jon Kent, like his father, is also a reporter, and explained that this character befriends a fellow journalist named Jay Nakamura, with whom he will later begin a romantic relationship.
The publisher shared a photo online showing Kent and Nakamura kissing.
“I’ve always said that everyone needs heroes, and everyone needs to see themselves in their heroes,” said screenwriter Tom Taylor.
He added, “The Superman symbol has always emerged in defense of hope, truth, and justice. Today this symbol represents something more. Today more people can be reflected in the most powerful superhero in comics.”
Titled “Superman: Son of Kal-El #5,” this comic is signed by screenwriter Tom Taylor and cartoonist John Tims, and is part of DC’s commitment to the multiverse, a great narrative framework in which different superheroes and superheroes coexist. Villains in various worlds, plots and time realities.
