Sunday, Nov. 22, the Music Series of First United Methodist Church of Escondido will present a pipe organ concert by Dr. Michael D. Munson on the Simpson/Blackington III/38 organ.

The concert will be held in the Church Sanctuary at 3:30 p.m. It will be followed by a reception to greet the artist. The church is located at 341 S. Kalmia St., Escondido.

Dr. Michael D. Munson has been the organist at First United Methodist Church of Escondido since August 2006. He also serves as organist at the Vista Fifth Ward, Vista Stake, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, since 1997.  Currently, he teaches piano, theory and plays for ballet classes on staff at Palomar College.

Dr. Munson earned his Doctor of Musical Arts in Accompanying and Chamber Music from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, in 1992; his Master of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah; and his Bachelor of Music in Piano and Bassoon Performance from the University of Maine.

The concert will consist of organ works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saëns, Langlais, Vierne and one of Dr. Munson’s own compositions.  The public is invited to attend this afternoon of music. A free-will offering will be collected.
