The city of San Marcos’ Community Services Department will offer the first in a series of fall hikes on
Saturday, Sept. 6.
Hike the trails south of Walnut Grove Park with an optional side trek on the Owens Peak trail segment. The hike is rated easy to moderate, and the hike length is 4 to 7 miles.
WHERE: Meet at Walnut Grove Park, corner of Sycamore and Olive drive. From Hwy. 78, take Twin Oaks Valley Road north about three miles. Turn right on Olive Drive, then left on Sycamore. The park is on the left. Meet near the Williams Barn.
Sign-in at the meeting location; no advanced reservations are necessary. An adult must accompany all minors. All dogs must be on a maximum six-foot leash at all times.

The Discover San Marcos hikes are held each month on the first Saturday of the month. The focus is on family- oriented outdoor education and fun.
